Bioidentical Hormone Therapy in Decatur, AL
Hormones chemically identical to the ones your body makes, for women and men. We use FDA-approved bioidentical options whenever available and compounded ones only when medically appropriate.
What are bioidentical hormones?
Bioidentical hormones are derived from plant sources (such as yams or soy) and processed in a lab so that their molecular structure is the same as estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone produced naturally by the body. Because of this, many patients feel that bioidentical hormone therapy is more natural and may be better tolerated than older synthetic alternatives.
FDA-approved vs. compounded bioidentical hormones
FDA-Approved Bioidentical Hormones
Available in patches, creams, gels, and some oral medications. These undergo strict safety, quality, and consistency testing.
Compounded Bioidentical Hormones
Custom-prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies when a specific dose or delivery form is not available commercially, or when a patient has a unique medical need. These are prescribed only when appropriate and always with close monitoring. At PrecisionMD, we use both options, always choosing the safest and most effective treatment for your situation.
Who can benefit from bioidentical hormone therapy?
Women may benefit if they’re experiencing:
- Perimenopause or menopause symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, brain fog)
- Low energy, fatigue, or weight changes related to hormone imbalance
- Vaginal dryness or pain with intimacy
- Decreased libido or sexual satisfaction
- Poor sleep, anxiety, or irritability
Men may benefit if they’re experiencing:
- Low testosterone (low T), leading to fatigue, reduced strength, and weight gain
- Low libido, erectile dysfunction, or reduced performance
- Brain fog, memory issues, or poor concentration
- Mood changes, low motivation, or irritability
- Loss of muscle mass or increased belly fat
