Wegovy (semaglutide) is an FDA-approved GLP-1 medication for long-term weight loss. We prescribe all three forms: the weekly injection, the higher-dose Wegovy HD, and the once-daily pill.

Zepbound (tirzepatide) is an FDA-approved weekly injection that acts on two hormone pathways, GLP-1 and GIP, to reduce appetite and support your metabolism.

Foundayo (orforglipron), approved by the FDA on April 1, 2026, is the first oral GLP-1 weight loss pill you can take at any time of day, with or without food, so the medication fits your routine instead of the other way around.

When FDA-approved semaglutide or tirzepatide isn't accessible or appropriate for you, compounded versions from licensed pharmacies may be considered under close medical supervision.

Contrave is an FDA-approved daily pill that combines bupropion and naltrexone to quiet cravings and emotional eating, the part of weight loss willpower alone rarely fixes.

Qsymia is an FDA-approved combination of phentermine and topiramate that reduces hunger and supports metabolism. Alabama law requires a monthly in-person visit for each prescription.

Phentermine is one of the most widely prescribed weight loss medications in the U.S. We prescribe it carefully when it fits, with the monthly in-person visits Alabama law requires, and each prescription covers no more than a 35-day supply.

Before any prescription, we check your labs from the last 6 to 12 months so there are no hidden health issues. We can review results you already have or order what you need.

Every patient gets a self-guided digital platform for nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress, plus referrals to registered dietitians often covered by insurance when you need more.

You may have heard people talk about Ozempic or Mounjaro for weight loss. These medications are FDA-approved to treat type 2 diabetes, while related medications in the same class, like Wegovy and Zepbound, are approved for weight management. At PrecisionMD, we’ll explain the differences, answer your questions, and make sure you’re prescribed the safest and most effective option for your goals. In some cases, compounded GLP-1 medications may also be considered when brand-name products aren’t available or medically appropriate.

Questions

No. We don’t require patients to follow strict or highly restrictive diets. Instead, we encourage balanced nutrition: enough protein, plenty of fiber, adequate water, and whole foods whenever possible. Medications help regulate appetite and cravings, but lasting success comes from building sustainable, healthy habits rather than following a rigid diet plan.
Many patients begin noticing changes within the first 1–2 months, with continued progress over time. For some, results may take longer, since each person’s response depends on factors like metabolism, overall health, and the medication prescribed. The focus is always on a safe, individualized plan that supports steady, lasting success.
Not necessarily. Some patients use weight loss medications long-term, while others taper off once they’ve built healthier habits. If you stop medication without maintaining nutrition, activity, and lifestyle changes, weight regain is likely, similar to how blood pressure or cholesterol can rise again when medication is discontinued. At PrecisionMD, we help you pair medication with long-term strategies so you have the best chance of maintaining results.
Possibly. Eligibility depends not only on BMI but also on other risk factors like insulin resistance, PCOS, sleep apnea, or waist circumference. Your provider will review your health history and labs to determine whether medication is appropriate for you.
It depends on the specific medication and your insurance coverage. Phentermine is often $10–20 per month at most pharmacies. Contrave and Qsymia are around $99–100 per month through our clinic, with generic options sometimes available for less. Compounded GLP-1 medications start at $150 per month. Wegovy (Novo Nordisk) is about $499 per month via direct pay if not covered by insurance. Zepbound (LillyDirect) is about $349 per month for the starter dose and $499 per month for other doses. Our team works with your insurance on prior authorizations and appeals when possible, and we’ll help you access direct-pay or manufacturer programs if your plan does not cover obesity medications.
Side effects vary depending on the medication. Most side effects improve as your body adjusts, and your provider will monitor you closely to ensure treatment remains safe and tolerable.
Results vary by medication and individual response. On average, patients taking GLP-1 medications may lose 15–20% of their body weight over time, while combination or appetite suppressant medications may lead to results of 5–10%. All medications work best when paired with lifestyle changes, and our goal is always safe, sustainable, and lasting weight loss.
