Qsymia in Decatur, AL
Qsymia is an FDA-approved combination of phentermine and topiramate that reduces hunger and supports metabolism. Alabama law requires a monthly in-person visit for each prescription.
How Qsymia works
Qsymia combines two medications:
- Phentermine: A well-known appetite suppressant that helps you feel less hungry
- Topiramate: A medication that helps regulate brain signals related to appetite and metabolism
Together, they:
- Reduce hunger and help you feel satisfied longer
- Support healthier food choices
- Improve calorie burn and metabolic efficiency
- Create a more balanced approach to weight management
Benefits of Qsymia
Patients using Qsymia under medical supervision may experience:
- Decreased appetite and fewer cravings
- Steadier weight loss over time
- Support for both appetite and metabolism in one medication
- Greater success maintaining lifestyle changes
Who is a candidate for Qsymia?
You may qualify for Qsymia if you:
- Have a BMI of 27 or higher with weight-related conditions
- Have a BMI of 30 or higher even without other medical concerns
- Carry excess body fat or an increased waist circumference that raises health risks
- Have struggled with appetite control and slower metabolism
- Prefer a daily oral medication instead of injections
- Are able to attend monthly in-person visits for safe prescribing and monitoring
Because Qsymia contains phentermine, it is classified as a controlled substance. Alabama law requires monthly in-person visits and limits prescriptions to a maximum of 35 days at a time.
