Wegovy (Injection & Pill) in Decatur, AL

Wegovy (semaglutide) is an FDA-approved GLP-1 medication for long-term weight loss. We prescribe all three forms: the weekly injection, the higher-dose Wegovy HD, and the once-daily pill.

How Wegovy works

Wegovy is a type of medication called a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It works by:

  • Reducing appetite and helping you feel full sooner
  • Decreasing cravings and emotional eating
  • Slowing digestion so you stay satisfied longer
  • Supporting healthier blood sugar and insulin levels

Combined with healthy lifestyle changes, Wegovy can lead to significant and sustainable weight loss.

Benefits of Wegovy

Patients taking Wegovy often experience:

  • Meaningful weight loss that is easier to maintain
  • Improved energy and confidence
  • Better blood sugar control (especially for patients with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes)
  • Reduced risk of obesity-related conditions such as high blood pressure and heart disease

Who is a candidate for Wegovy?

You may qualify for Wegovy if you:

  • Have a BMI of 27 or higher with weight-related health conditions
  • Have a BMI of 30 or higher, even without other medical conditions
  • Have established cardiovascular disease (such as a history of heart attack, stroke, or related conditions), as Wegovy is FDA-approved to reduce the risk of serious heart problems in adults with obesity or overweight
  • Struggle with appetite, cravings, or weight regain after diets
  • Have other risk factors, such as a high body fat percentage or an increased waist circumference, even if your BMI is in the “normal” range
